DeStress Fest on December 11

Based on my own personal experiences as a graduate student, I can assure you that life as a graduate student is much different from being an undergraduate student. In addition to the academic workload and research that comes with graduate studies, there are other factors that contribute to what seems like our never ending bouts of stress. These include (but certainly not limited to):
• Juggling school and family (many graduate students are either married, parents, or both)
• Managing finances
• Juggling school and work
• Establishing professional connections, presenting at conferences, and publishing scholarly research
• Finding time to take care of yourself
With all this stress, comes the temptation to drink to blow off steam and relax, especially during finals. This finals week, I would like to encourage the graduate students to stay sober and find alternatives to drinking to relieve your stress. One alternative I would like to propose is to stop by UND’s annual “DeStress Fest” this WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2013 from 11-2pm in the Memorial Union Loading Dock, where you will have to opportunity to engage in all sorts of alternatives ways to relieve stress! Remember, it’s just not just for undergrads, it’s for everybody.
